Castlemaine House 1

Provided sketch design service for additions to a Victorian weatherboard designed to maximise the winter solar gain with new north facing kitchen, living and dining areas. The timber clad extruded link between the existing house and the new living areas provides a north facing sheltered entry, bathrooms and laundry. The new living area opens to the north and the garden views. Large areas of double glazed north facing glass, internal thermal mass construction with heavily insulated external walls and roof form the basis for the passive solar design strategy.
