Innovative Childcare Program

Designed as Senior Architect with Tangentyere Design.  This project involved the design of five new childcare centres at Mt Liebig, Ikuntji, Laramba,Titjikala and Kintore communities. It also involved renovations and extensions to existing childcare centres at Mutitjulu and Yuendumu Communities.

The consultation process set out to engage the key stakeholders including the women providing childcare in the various communities; Children’s Services; Environmental Health branches of NT Health; and Department of Family and Community Services to develop innovative and appropriate designs that met the specific childcare needs of each community.

Physical models were made of each design during the consultation stage to communicate the spatial and architectural relationships, in order to gain feedback from the childcare workers and community members.
